#3 Angus Three Cheese & Bacon upsets #2 Big Mac
#1 Baconator over #4 Big Buford
#2 Beef N Cheddar over #3 Monster Thickburger
#1 Whopper over #5 Subway BMT
#3 BK Original Chicken upsets #2 Chick-Fil-A Sandwich
Notes
Clearly, the
Burger King's Original Chicken Sandwich won the battle of chicken sandwiches on the right side of the bracket, but can it advance far enough to set up a potential all-poultry championship matchup with Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich? To do so, it first will have to take down the leader of the Burger King menu, the Whopper. The length of the Originial Chicken Sandwich could pose some issues but will the overall size of the Whopper be enough for it to advance?
It should be noted that both Baconator and the Beef N Cheddar won their matchups quite handily, compared to any other sandwich. This could be the biggest contest of this round. The Baconator could easily be argued as the favorite but the Beef N Cheddar has proven to be a tough out with it's smothering 'cheese'fense and roast beef.
The darkhorse in this tournament, even though it is a #1 seed, is the Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Wendy's. With the upset of the McDouble and the Big Mac, the stars have seemed to allign for an easy road to the Championship matchup. But the Angus Three Cheese and Bacon may have just the right ingredients to be a bracket buster and pull off another huge upset. The complexity of the hoagie, bacon, cheeses and premium angus beef puts the Angus Three Cheese and Bacon on the top of the contender list. This will definitely be one to follow.
Finally, you will notice, if you haven't already that McDonald's and it's three participants have been completely eliminated from the #MarchFatness tournament, while Wendy's will carry three of the final eight teams, and Arby's stays alive with a surprising or maybe not-so-surprising two sandwiches left. Baconator has to be considered the favorite to win this thing, right?
Stay tuned as voting for the #Eatlite8 will go live in just a few moments.
Eat well.
